Adam Hattaway and the Haunters Unveil Mesmerizing New Track ‘Ted Danson’

Adam Hattaway and The Haunters Return
Adam Hattaway and The Haunters are making a comeback sooner than anticipated.
New Single and Album Details
Their latest single, “Ted Danson,” serves as the captivating lead track from their forthcoming album, Hot Variety, which marks their seventh studio effort. This project has been in the works for several years.
Hattaway expressed, “We’ve been working on something in the background for the past three years. There have been many trips to our favorite studio and numerous collaborations with some of our favorite creatives in Ōtautahi.”
Visuals and Release Information
Accompanying the single is an imaginative stop-motion video by Maya Templer and Jack O’Connell. The video features an eclectic mix of cutouts, including Bob Dylan, Richard Nixon, and, of course, Ted Danson.
Hot Variety is scheduled to drop on September 5th across all streaming platforms. Additionally, there will be a limited release of 100 vinyl copies through Leather Jacket Records.
A Shift in Style
The editorial team commented on Hattaway’s evolution as an artist: “It’s a wonderful thing when an artist land on a sound and style that’s tailor-made for them. On his sixth full-length album in six years, Adam Hattaway pivots to a more stripped-down approach compared to his previous rock ‘n’ roll projects.”
Produced by fellow New Zealand artist Marlon Williams, this album sees Hattaway embracing slower tempos and gritty rhythms, pushing his vocal limits. While he may explore more rock-oriented sounds in the future, High Horse is so compelling that it would be a mistake to abandon this more minimalist style.
Upcoming Shows
The Haunters have a couple of exciting shows lined up: one at the Lyttelton Arts Festival on July 4th and another in Wellington at Rogue & Vagabond on July 10th.
