Actor Chen Xi Ties the Knot: Son of Xiang Yun and Edmund Chen Weds

Actor Chen Xi has tied the knot! He and his wife, Mimi, who hails from Japan, initially crossed paths via a language-exchange app and shared their engagement news in May 2024. On July 14, the 34-year-old, whose parents are renowned Singaporean actors Xiang Yun and Edmund Chen, announced their wedding on Instagram with charming Peranakan-themed images.

“I married my Player Two,” Chen Xi wrote. Instead of a grand wedding, they opted for a “small and heartfelt” ceremony surrounded by family. He expressed how they wanted to keep things genuine, choosing a quaint Peranakan shophouse at Little Social, which resonates with their shared dreams for the future.

Chen Xi expressed his gratitude toward his family, saying, “To my parents, thank you for being my anchor and showcasing what true love and family look like.” He also acknowledged his sister, actress Chen Yixin, as the “real MVP” for her unwavering support.

He extended thanks to many others—including his aunties and uncles—highlighting their love and presence on this special day. Chen Xi also graciously thanked Mimi’s family for making the journey from Japan to attend the ceremony.

Closing his heartfelt message, he expressed appreciation for his team’s efforts in capturing such memorable moments: “Here’s to a lifetime of side quests together.”

Their love story began in 2020 during the pandemic when Chen Xi joined an online language-exchange app to learn Japanese. Throughout the process, he introduced Mimi to Singlish. When he pursued his Master’s program in London in 2023, they faced challenges but ultimately flourished when Mimi managed to secure a job and visa to join him.
