Lorde’s Summer and New Music
Summer is officially in full swing, largely thanks to Lorde’s latest track, “What Was That,” and she’s already gearing up to release another song soon. Her next single, titled “Man of the Year,” is set to be released next week. In her announcement, she described it as “an offering from really deep inside me and the song I’m proudest of on Virgin.”

Lorde hinted at her new release when she donned a stunning gunmetal Thom Browne set, complemented by a backless top. Comparing her looks side by side, it’s clear that this visual serves as a clever Easter egg for her album Virgin.

More Enticing Updates
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Lorde revealed the inspirations behind her new song and how it intertwines with her journey of gender identity. She shared a poignant moment when she created a makeshift binder using duct tape, expressing how this represented her feelings at the time.
“I went to the cupboard, and I got the tape out, and I did it to myself,” Lorde recalled. “I have this picture staring at myself. I was blonde. It scared me what I saw. But I felt something bursting out of me—something jagged, something violent.”
The “Royals” artist also spoke about a discussion she had with Chappell Roan regarding her identity.
“She asked if I consider myself nonbinary now, and I said, ‘I’m a woman except for the days when I’m a man,’” Lorde explained. “I realize this may not fully satisfy people, but I resist being put into a box.”
