Cardi B Faces Battery Lawsuit Over Las Vegas Mic-Throwing Event

Lawsuit Filed Against Cardi B by Ohio Woman
An Ohio woman has initiated legal action against Cardi B, claiming that the rapper reacted excessively by "forcefully" throwing her microphone in response to a minor splash of drink onstage during a concert two years ago. The plaintiff asserts that this incident, which was looked into by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department without any criminal charges being filed, resulted in “severe emotional distress, shock, humiliation, and physical injury.”
Incident Details
According to the lawsuit, Cardi B had allegedly invited “light splashing from drinks” during her performance. The suit notes that the rapper even poured water over herself while encouraging concertgoers to join in on the fun. The filing suggests Cardi exclaimed, “Wooh that [expletive] feel good,” as audience members threw various liquids onstage.
The plaintiff, referred to as Jane Doe, claims she splashed a small amount of her drink in Cardi B’s direction, aligning her actions with the atmosphere the rapper created. However, the lawsuit states that Cardi B, in apparent anger, “aggressively and intentionally launched” her microphone at Jane Doe, causing injury.
Legal Claims and Allegations
The lawsuit alleges that Cardi B either knew or should have been aware that “water-throwing conduct” she seemingly endorsed posed minimal threat compared to throwing a solid object like a microphone. Additionally, it points out that shortly after the incident, the microphone was put up for auction, which the plaintiff argues added to her emotional distress.
Jane Doe is pursuing claims of assault, battery, and negligence against Cardi B, along with allegations of negligence and premises liability against Drai’s Management Group. Attempts to contact representatives for both parties have been unsuccessful.
Seeking Damages
The complaint was filed on Monday in Clark County, Nevada, and seeks both compensatory and punitive damages.
