Tyler, the Creator has unveiled his latest album, Don’t Tap the Glass, just days after announcing this surprise release, which follows his 2024 project, Chromakopia.
Album Overview
This new ten-track album, brought to you by Columbia Records, marks Tyler’s ninth studio effort. Spanning 28 minutes and 30 seconds, it features no guest artists, emphasizing Tyler’s solo artistry. He mentioned on social media that the music is “MADE FOR BODY MOVEMENT. FULL VOLUME.” You can listen to the album through various streaming platforms.
The Inspiration
Tyler has expressed his thoughts on the state of public dancing, stating, “I asked some friends why they don’t dance in public and some said because of the fear of being filmed.” He further reflected on how this fear impacts people’s natural connection to music.
In a recent listening party, Tyler shared his experience of the night, saying it was one of the best of his life. Without phones or cameras, 300 attendees were fully engaged, dancing and expressing themselves freely. “This album was not made for sitting still; dancing, driving, running—any type of movement is encouraged to truly grasp its spirit,” Tyler conveyed.
Live Events and Hints
During a concert in Brooklyn, Tyler highlighted the album’s title, accompanied by a striking display outside the Barclays Center that read “Don’t Tap the Glass.” Tyler confirmed via social media the album’s July 21 release alongside a preorder link.
Teasers and Collaborations
Before the big reveal, Tyler teased fans with intriguing images on Instagram, hinting that something exciting was coming. Recently, he previewed a collaboration with Doechii during a Louis Vuitton fashion show, although it did not make it onto Don’t Tap the Glass.
