The Living End Unveils Upcoming Album and National Tour Plans

The Living End has revealed exciting news about their upcoming album. Titled I Only Trust Rock n Roll, this marks their first release in eight years and is scheduled to drop on September 26th through BMG.

The punk rock trio is also treating fans to the title track and announcing a nationwide tour to commemorate their highly anticipated return.

This new album features eleven tracks described as their “leanest, fiercest, most locked-and-loaded statement to date.” However, this revival came with its own obstacles, as the seasoned musicians aimed to recapture their youthful energy while honoring a 25-year legacy.

Frontman Chris Cheney drew inspiration from events during his time in the U.S., including the tragic murder of George Floyd, the ensuing riots, and the pandemic.

The creative journey began with the track “Roller,” while the recently released single “Strange Place” finds its groove reminiscent of their iconic song “Prisoner of Society.” Additionally, “Alfie” has been revealed as the album’s striking opener.

Speaking on their artistic direction, Cheney shares, “We wanted to avoid creating a big, elaborate record with too many parts. We’ve done that before. This time, we aimed for a slick machine-like sound, trimming the excess. Of course, we incorporated some harmonies and extra guitar elements, but we focused heavily on what each song truly needed.”

The excitement to perform these new tracks is palpable among the band. Bassist Scott Owen reflects, “We’ve experienced a lot together, learning when to give each other space. Ultimately, it comes down to three guys plugged in and giving it their all. No gimmicks, just songs that hit hard and mean something.” Drummer Andy Strachan adds, “The best shows are the ones where we leave everything on stage. We hold nothing back.”

The forthcoming tour is set to deliver an extraordinary experience for fans, featuring two incredible sets each night. The first set will include select tracks from I Only Trust Rock n Roll, combined with their greatest hits spanning three decades, such as “White Noise”, “Roll On”, and “Who’s Gonna Save Us.”

The second set promises a nostalgic journey as the band will perform their iconic self-titled debut album in its entirety, including classics like “All Torn Down,” “Second Solution,” and “Prisoner of Society,” alongside every other track from that landmark release.

Tickets will be available to the public starting Friday, July 25th at 10 AM local time. Fans who pre-order the new album will gain access to a special pre-sale for the tour, beginning Thursday, July 24th at 10 AM local time and running until Friday, July 25th at 9 AM local time.
