Viveck Vaswani Shares Shah Rukh Khan’s Early Mumbai Days and Gauri’s Concerns
Shah Rukh Khan’s Humble Beginnings
Shah Rukh Khan’s rise to iconic status in Bollywood began in the bustling city of Mumbai, where he was supported by his close friend, Viveck Vaswani. Their journey together was marked by struggles and personal challenges. Recently, Viveck shared memories of those formative years, shedding light on Shah Rukh’s early days and his relationship with Gauri Khan.
In his early days, before becoming a cinematic megastar, Shah Rukh was just trying to navigate life in Mumbai. His friend Viveck was there to witness his journey. Speaking on Radio Nasha, Viveck reflected on Shah Rukh’s personal challenges, his evolving career, and the serendipitous path that led him to film.
Memories of Struggles and Friendship
Viveck vividly remembers Shah Rukh’s initial struggles. When Shah Rukh moved to Mumbai, he was low on funds and spent months living with Viveck. “He was at my place and preferred non-vegetarian food, so we went out to grab a bite. He quietly ate for the first 20 minutes, having not had a decent meal in days. That night, he opened up about his mother’s illness and his family’s dynamics,” Viveck shared.
He recounted how Shah Rukh stayed until just before Christmas, during which they attended a party where many stars gathered. Despite their closeness, the impending news of Shah Rukh’s mother’s declining health created emotional turbulence. Viveck even took financial support from his father to send medicines to Delhi.
At one point, producer Vikram Malhotra offered Shah Rukh a film role, but he hesitated. Viveck disclosed, “He expressed concern that Gauri wouldn’t be comfortable with him hugging other actresses. He was content doing television, so I didn’t pressure him.”
However, the tide changed when he agreed to film a short project in Shimla, marking the beginning of a significant shift in his career.
