Sadhguru Advises Ranbir Kapoor: Movie Success Relies on Teamwork, Not Just Stars
Ranbir Kapoor tackles the role of Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana.
Ranbir Kapoor is known for completely immersing himself in his roles. Yet, as he steps into the shoes of Lord Ram in the upcoming film Ramayana, he faces the daunting task of meeting high expectations from fans and devotees alike. With the film’s release almost a year away, the pressure continues to mount.
Sadhguru shares insights on Ramayana
During a recent conversation with producer Namit Malhotra, spiritual leader Sadhguru addressed the unrealistic expectations that accompany Ranbir’s casting as Lord Rama. They discussed how actors are often expected to embody the characters they portray, and Sadhguru provided candid advice for navigating these pressures.
Namit Malhotra is producing the film under Prime Focus Studios and recently met Sadhguru at the Isha Foundation. Their dialogue was shared on the film’s official YouTube channel.
Sadhguru emphasized the importance of transformation for an actor taking on the role of such a significant figure: “It’s an opportunity to play Rama; you’d better transform yourself.” Yet he cautioned about the potential for unrealistic expectations that could weigh heavily on the actor.
Expectations for Ranbir Kapoor
Sadhguru drew parallels to NT Rama Rao, a Telugu film star who was revered for his portrayals of religious figures, explaining how public perceptions can dramatically shape an actor’s career. “It’s unfair to the actor because, ultimately, it’s a profession,” he pointed out. “Acting gives the opportunity to channel some qualities of these characters, which can be enriching.”
Further, Malhotra noted that some critics dismiss Ranbir’s casting based on his past roles. Sadhguru concurred, stating that such judgments are often unfair, as an actor’s range is defined by their ability to embody diverse characters. He added, “A movie’s success depends more on audience sentiment than on the actors or directors.”
