## Matt Cameron’s Departure from Pearl Jam

Matt Cameron, the renowned drummer, has announced his exit from Pearl Jam after an impressive 27-year tenure. In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, he expressed gratitude for the journey he experienced with the band. “Much love and respect to Jeff, Ed, Mike, and Stone for inviting me into the band in 1998 and for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime, filled with friendships, artistry, challenges, and laughter,” he stated. “I am forever grateful to the crew, staff, and fans around the world. It’s been an incredible journey. More to follow. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”

## Band’s Response to the News

In a separate commentary, the remaining band members—Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, and Eddie Vedder—reflected on the invaluable time spent with Cameron. They praised his significant contributions: “From being one of our first musical heroes in the bands Skinyard and the mighty Soundgarden to playing on our first demos in 1990, Matt Cameron has been a singular and true powerhouse of a musician and drummer,” they shared.

## Cameron’s Musical Journey

Cameron’s musical career includes a notable stint with Soundgarden from 1986 to 1997, followed by a brief return from 2010 to 2017. He also had a collaboration with Queens of the Stone Age, although he never officially became a member of that group. His role with Pearl Jam stands out as his longest association in a band.

## A Fond Farewell

“He has propelled the last 27 years of Pearl Jam live shows and studio recordings,” the band added, highlighting the significant impact Cameron had on their music. “It was a deeply important chapter for our group and we wish him well always. He will be deeply missed and is forever our friend in art and music. We love you, Matt.”
