Vanessa Amorosi’s Family Feud Unveiled

In a heartfelt revelation, Vanessa Amorosi has opened up about a troubling family dispute that escalated into a court case, sharing a glimpse into a challenging aspect of her life that fans seldom see.

Public Disclosure of Personal Struggles

The 44-year-old pop artist discussed her tumultuous relationship with her mother, Joyleen Robinson, on the recent episode of 60 Minutes. The conflict stemmed from a Victorian property she purchased back in 2001.

The emotional weight of this battle was intensified by a history of domestic abuse that both she and her mother endured from her late father, Frank. Amorosi mentioned how difficult it was to talk about such personal issues. “It’s a terrible Pandora’s box,” she stated during the interview with Tracy Grimshaw.

The Impact of a Troubled Past

Amorosi explained how the repercussions of living in a violent household affected her views on relationships and life itself. Despite leaving her father at a young age, the scars of their past lingered.

“The weirdness that happens behind closed doors… wanting to keep people out, creating this barrier that everybody is the enemy,” she elaborated.

Success and Isolation

Her rise to fame only added to this feeling of isolation. “I was raised to not trust anyone, especially once I found success. Everyone is out to get you,” she noted. This mindset led her to form tight-knit connections while keeping others at arm’s length.

Legal Battles and Resolutions

Amorosi initially filed a lawsuit against her mother to assert control over the property. Robinson claimed they had agreed that Amorosi would gain full ownership in return for a future payment of $650,000.

The case reached the Supreme Court of Victoria in August 2024, where the judge ruled in favor of Amorosi, granting her full ownership and requiring her mother to vacate the premises. Amorosi was also ordered to pay nearly $870,000 in restitution.

Facing Public Scrutiny

Amorosi took part in the interview to address the public speculation surrounding the court case. “People want to know: Why would you do this to your family?” she said, reflecting on the difficult position she found herself in.

She felt cornered, needing to choose between legal action or facing significant debt without any assets. “It took a lot of courage to say, no, I’m not walking away. If I do, I’m left with debt,” Amorosi explained.

Looking Ahead: Music and Tours

With the legal matters behind her, Amorosi is refocusing on her music career. She is set to embark on an Australian tour titled ‘Celebrating 25 Years’ starting April 10, 2026, in Newcastle.

This tour will feature unique performances where Amorosi shares nostalgic stories and cherished memories from her career, culminating in a finale in Brisbane on May 1st.
