Meg Mac's New Release: A Candid Reflection on Bitterness in 'The Tune I’ll Be Singing Until I’m Dead'

Meg Mac’s New Single Release

Meg Mac has recently introduced her latest single, “The Tune I’ll Be Singing Until I’m Dead.” This track showcases a darkly playful vibe and serves as both a cautionary tale and a personal reflection. It marks the second preview of her upcoming fourth studio album, It’s My Party, set to release later this year. This follows her previous single, “He Said No,” which has already garnered over 250,000 streams within just a month.

Creative Collaboration

Produced alongside Nathan Jenkins, also known as Bullion (with credits including Carly Rae Jepsen and Ben Howard), “The Tune I’ll Be Singing Until I’m Dead” draws inspiration from the Irish songs Mac’s mother sang to her during her childhood. This combination infuses the track with catchy hooks while exploring the theme of bitterness and its impact.

“I loved writing this song because it reminded me of the Irish songs my Mum used to sing to us when we were kids,” Mac shares. “It’s my cautionary tale of bitterness and how it will poison every part of your life. It’s like I saw into my future, and it was bitter and lonely.”

Balancing Emotion with Melody

Although the subject matter may seem intense, the single reflects Mac’s skill in blending emotional depth with engaging, soulful melodies. “It’s a song about bitterness and how it can poison your life,” she emphasizes.

Live Performances

This release comes after an impressive series of performances for the ARIA chart-topper. In August, Meg Mac performed a three-night series at Sydney’s Belvoir Street Theatre. This collaboration with director Alexander Berlage melded storytelling, theater, and music beautifully. She also recently completed a sold-out tour across the UK and Ireland, where she provided fans with a sneak peek into songs from It’s My Party during some of her most intimate performances.
