Gordi Releases Final Single "Head Rush" Ahead of Upcoming Album

## Gordi’s New Single: A Nostalgic Tribute to NYC

Only three weeks remain until the release of her third album, *Like Plasticine*, and Melbourne-based indie-pop artist Gordi has unveiled a new single titled “Head Rush.” This track is a heartfelt tribute to her memories in New York City and reflects on the inevitability of endings.

### The Inspiration Behind “Head Rush”

The creation of “Head Rush” began as a catchy thought that quickly evolved into a fully-realized song. Gordi shares, “I found myself at my friend Sarah’s Wurlitzer in Los Angeles, playing the same tune repeatedly, and then ‘Head Rush’ emerged. It was one of those moments where the lyrics flowed out faster than I could capture them.”

Reflecting on her experiences, she notes, “New York has always been a significant place for me, especially thinking back to the time my friend lived in a rundown spot on Division St. ‘Head Rush’ delves into the inevitability of change and growing up, capturing that shift from carefree excitement to a more stable life.”

### A Dynamic Sound and Visual Experience

Produced by John Congelton, the single exudes an energetic vibe that sets it apart from her earlier releases. Gordi mentions, “You’ve gotta crank the volume up for the last part.” This lively energy carries over into the music video, directed by her long-time collaborator Madelaine Purdy. Purdy aimed for a fun, spontaneous feel with this abstract video diary of NYC, stating, “I wanted to make it joyful and unceremonious—casual and off the cuff.”

### A Busy Schedule for the Rising Star

“Head Rush” arrives as Gordi keeps a busy performance schedule, having showcased her previous singles “Peripheral Lover” and “Lunch at Dune” on *The Kelly Clarkson Show* and *CBS Mornings*. Additionally, she recently toured Europe alongside Foster the People.

Her upcoming album, *Like Plasticine*, explores significant transformations in her life over recent years, touching on themes such as coming out and her experiences as a frontline doctor during the COVID-19 pandemic. The album will be available on all platforms on August 8th through Mushroom Music.
