## Stevie Wonder Addresses Blindness Rumors
Stevie Wonder recently responded to persistent rumors questioning his blindness during his Love, Light, and Song tour in Cardiff, Wales. With his trademark humor, he addressed the audience, saying, “I’ve been thinking about when to let the world know this. So here it is: There have been rumors about my ability to see and all that? But here’s the truth.”
## A Positive Perspective on His Blindness
He elaborated, “I lost my sight shortly after birth. Interestingly, this has been a blessing, allowing me to perceive the world through a different lens—one of truth and spirit. I see people not by their appearance or color, but by the essence of their spirit.”
Wonder has often kept discussions about his blindness light-hearted. In a memorable appearance on *The Late Show with David Letterman* in 2015, he humorously outlined some advantages of being blind, including the ability to “act like you don’t see anything when you really do” and the freedom to say “I didn’t see that” even when he did.
## Overcoming Challenges from Childhood
Reflecting on his childhood experiences, Wonder shed light on his journey in a recent podcast, *The Wonder of Stevie*, alongside journalist Wesley Morris and former President Barack Obama. He shared, “I was born and soon after, I lost my eyesight. My mother faced many challenges during that time, and my understanding of it was profound.”
He recalled that his mother would cry every night, prompting him to reassure her, “Mama, you shouldn’t cry; you’re making my head hurt.” Wonder believed that perhaps God had a grander plan for him, emphasizing, “History has proven that to be true.”
Wonder’s resilience and positive outlook serve as an inspiration to many. How do you interpret the way he embraces challenges in life?
