Meet Leo and Sangwon: Ex-BIGHIT Trainees Making Waves with ENHYPEN Covers

Contestants Sangwon and Leo from BOYS II PLANET are gaining significant attention for their impressive vocal abilities. Their first performance in the second season of this South Korean survival show made waves, capturing the audience’s hearts. A sneak peek released on July 14 showcased their musical journey, along with a short clip of their act, leading to a surge in their fan base.

Sangwon and Leo’s Performance of ENHYPEN’s No Doubt

The duo wowed audiences with their rendition of ENHYPEN‘s No Doubt during their star level assessment on the show. This performance is critical as it determines their ranking among four categories: ALL STAR, TWO STAR, ONE STAR, and NO STAR.

Trainees who do not earn any stars face immediate elimination, but Sangwon and Leo seem to have secured their spots with a stunning performance that left the audience mesmerized.

Judges expressed their admiration, with fellow contestants visibly astonished, questioning whether the performance was live due to the seamless quality of their singing.

About Sangwon and Leo

Lee Leo, hailing from Australia, and Lee Sang Won, a Korean artist, are both 22 years old and previously members of BIGHIT’s Trainee A. This project aimed to create a third boy group under BIGHIT MUSIC, following the success of BTS and TXT, but was officially dissolved in December 2022.

Subsequently, they signed with GRID Entertainment, gearing up to debut as a duo under the name Leo & Sangwon. A few weeks after their new arrangement was announced, they decided to participate in Mnet’s survival show, Boys II Planet. The pair, who have been close friends for about eight years, joined the show with the shared goal of debuting together. Leo trained for around 3 years and 7 months, while Sangwon completed 6 years of training before auditioning.

After the disbandment of Trainee A, Leo pursued a solo career, yet his ambition of collaborating with Sangwon led them to this survival opportunity.
