Paresh Rawal Reveals Lobbying in National Awards Similar to Oscars
Paresh Rawal acknowledges lobbying in National Awards
An Insight into the Influence of Networking in Awards
Actor Paresh Rawal, a National Award winner in 1993, recently shared his thoughts on the role of lobbying in award shows. He expressed that even the esteemed National Awards are not immune to lobbying activities, similar to those at the Oscars.
Exploring the Lobbying in National Awards
In a recent podcast with Raj Shamani, Paresh discussed various facets of his career, focusing on lobbying in the National Awards and Oscars. He emphasized that he holds appreciation from directors and writers in higher regard than any award.
On the credibility of awards, he remarked, “I don’t even know much about awards. There might be a bit of lobbying in the National Awards, but not to the same extent as in other awards. The rest don’t matter as much; the National Award is significant.”
He stressed that lobbying is not a unique problem in India, stating, “Lobbying exists at the Oscars as well.”
He elaborated that this process is heavily influenced by connections and networking, revealing, “For example, in the case of Raj’s film, we gather all the Academy members to sway their opinions.”
When asked about his aspirations for awards, Paresh mentioned that he seeks genuine acknowledgment from his collaborators, particularly his director, rather than pursuing accolades.
Paresh received a National Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for his role in *Woh Chokri* and *Sir*.
Paresh Rawal’s Recent Projects
Most recently, Paresh portrayed a tour guide in *The Taj Story*, directed by Tushar Amrish Goel. The film follows the life of a guide whose career is jeopardized by a viral video questioning the historical narrative of the Taj Mahal, prompting him to challenge the established version in court.
He also featured in the horror comedy *Thamma*, alongside Ayushmann Khuranna and Rashmika Mandanna. This film is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik. Upcoming projects include *Hera Pheri 3*, *Bhooth Bangla*, and *Welcome To The Jungle*.
What are your thoughts on lobbying in award ceremonies? Do you believe it’s something that undermines the true value of recognition?
