SS Rajamouli Explains the Removal of Tamannaah Bhatia’s Love Song from Baahubali
Rajamouli Discusses the Exclusion of Tamannaah Bhatia’s Song
Actress Tamannaah Bhatia’s beloved love song from the iconic Baahubali franchise won’t appear in “Baahubali: The Epic,” which combines both parts of the series. This omission caused quite a stir online, leading director SS Rajamouli to explain his reasoning.
Insights from Rajamouli
During a promotional discussion with actors Prabhas and Rana Daggubati, Rajamouli explained that several scenes were trimmed during the editing process. The intention was to streamline the narrative.
He noted, “Integrating both films without the original rolling titles would run about five hours and 27 minutes. Our final cut stands at three hours and 43 minutes. Notable exclusions include Avanthika’s love story with Shivudu and several songs, along with key war sequences.”
Rajamouli also expressed the need for the new version to focus on the core story. He indicated that the original screening was approximately four hours and ten minutes long, but feedback from diverse audiences helped shrink it to its current length.
Filmmaking is a collaborative journey, and Rajamouli emphasized its importance. The goal was to enhance the storytelling experience while retaining emotional depth.
He reflected on the creative journey, confessing that the idea of merging the two films arose five years ago. However, attempts at linear storytelling proved ineffective, leading to significant cuts.
In a recent interview, Tamannaah reflected on the profound impact of the Baahubali series on her life and career, stating it served as a tremendous learning experience, especially regarding visual effects and personal intuition.
About Baahubali: The Epic
SS Rajamouli’s acclaimed films “Baahubali: The Beginning” and “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” are being re-released together as “Baahubali: The Epic.” This version offers a fresh perspective on the tale of a man uncovering his true heritage and reclaiming his throne. The film will be available in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi.
Featuring stars like Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, and Tamannaah Bhatia, the film is produced by Arka Media Works. It holds a condensed runtime of approximately three hours and 43 minutes and is set to release in more than 1,150 theatres globally.
Historically, the Baahubali films achieved tremendous box office success, with “Baahubali” grossing ₹650 crore and “Baahubali 2” an impressive ₹1788.06 crore, marking them among the highest-grossing Indian films ever.
