Sunny Leone’s enthusiasm for Halloween is well-known. This year, she is amplifying the festivities by building a haunted house specifically for her children. In her words, “This year’s Halloween is definitely going to be the scariest because my children are a little older now. They’ve been begging me for a haunted house, so I’m building one for them in our building. Hopefully, they don’t get too scared!”

Reflecting on past Halloween experiences, Sunny recalls how her tradition of trick-or-treating began. “The most amazing part was trick-or-treating. We’d go door to door for hours collecting candy. Instead of standard bags, we’d bring pillowcases to hold as much candy as possible.” She adds, “The fun came afterward, sorting through everything to find the best candies and trading them with my siblings. It was always a blast.”

Now embracing Halloween in India, she strives to keep the tradition alive for her children. “Last year, I organized a trick-or-treat in our smaller building. But since Halloween falls on a Friday this year and many kids have school events, we’ll try again next year.” Every year, Sunny goes all out for costumes, and this year is no exception. “We’re going total zombie mode!” she shares. “The boys are creepy dead twins, Misha is a zombie princess in a gown we’ve transformed, and I’ll be a zombie mommy in white.”

She has taken Halloween preparations further by curating a terrifying experience in the comfort of their home. “I’ve taken over a smaller floor in our building to create the right spooky atmosphere. I’ve set up pulley systems and props like dropping spiders and moving ghosts to make it more interactive,” Sunny explains. “I wanted to design it myself without hiring a party company. Some volunteers will help create scares as kids walk through.”

What does Halloween personally mean to her? “It’s about dressing up and embracing a messy, scary version of oneself. My family loves it! We even made a fake dead body to prank a delivery guy last year. His reaction was priceless until I revealed it was fake!”

When it comes to horror films, she has a few favorites, including “The Exorcist” and “The People Under the Stairs.” “Candyman terrified me as a child! The thought of him lurking in the bathroom made me turn on the lights every time.”

If given the chance to dress up as a horror character, Sunny would choose Ed Gein, the real-life figure inspiring many horror stories. “His legacy has influenced decades of scary films. I’ll probably wait until my kids are older before going that route!”
