Exciting New Call of Duty Movie in Development by Hell or High Water Creators

Call of Duty, known as one of the most successful video game franchises in history, is set to transition into a feature film. This adaptation will be guided by Peter Berg and Taylor Sheridan, as confirmed by Paramount Pictures and Activision on Thursday, October 30.

Berg and Sheridan will share writing duties for the screenplay while also producing the film together, with Berg taking on the directorial role. These two collaborators have previously joined forces for acclaimed works like Hell Or High Water, which garnered four Oscar nominations, and Wind River.

Although it has been confirmed that the film will be live-action, additional details about the Call of Duty movie are still under wraps. The franchise initially launched in 2003 as a World War II simulation and has since sold over 500 million copies worldwide, expanding to cover modern warfare themes in its later releases.

Interestingly, Sheridan’s involvement in this new project has raised eyebrows across the industry. Just earlier this week, it was reported that the creator of Yellowstone had plans to depart from Paramount to pursue a significant film and television deal valued at approximately $1 billion with NBCUniversal. Representatives from NBCUniversal chose not to provide comments on this development.

This announcement coincides with significant layoffs at Paramount, occurring just months after the company’s $8 billion merger with Skydance. Recently, the company initiated around 1,000 of a planned 2,000 layoffs across its workforce on Wednesday.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming Call of Duty film?
