Queensland Music Festival’s The Long Sunset Event Cancelled
## Queensland Music Festival’s The Long Sunset Cancelled
Queensland Music Festival’s anticipated event, The Long Sunset, was scheduled to begin today, October 31st, featuring headliners Boy & Bear. Unfortunately, it has been officially cancelled.
### Reasons for Cancellation
The organisers announced the cancellation this morning, attributing it to severe weather conditions. Heavy rain and damaging weather in the Scenic Rim region have rendered the festival site unsafe.
“Our assessors conducted a thorough site inspection today and found that the grounds pose risks for staff, vendors, and guests. Therefore, we made the difficult decision to cancel The Long Sunset,” the organisers stated.
### Ongoing Weather Concerns
The current conditions of the event site, combined with forecasts predicting hazardous weather to persist through October 31st and November 1st, necessitated consultation with the Scenic Rim Regional Council. Safety concerns were paramount in reaching this conclusion.
### Festival Highlights
The Long Sunset was intended to take place throughout the weekend as part of the Qld Music Trails: The Scenic Rim. Alongside headliner Boy & Bear, the lineup included popular artists like Vera Blue, Gretta Ray, and The Buoys.
This festival promised a rich experience beyond just music, offering sunrise yoga, roving performers, interactive workshops, and a variety of local food trucks and regional pop-ups throughout the Scenic Rim.
### A Message from the Organisers
A spokesperson for the Queensland Music Festival expressed their disappointment, saying, “While we regret the necessity of canceling The Long Sunset, the safety of our audiences, artists, crew, and staff is our top priority. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support during this time.”
### Refund Information
All ticket holders have been notified directly and will receive a full refund.
Given the circumstances, do you think the festival will find a way to reschedule or adapt in the future?
