Harshvardhan Rane: ‘Thamma’s Success Shows Nepotism is an Excuse’
Harshvardhan Rane celebrates success of Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat
Harshvardhan Rane is currently enjoying the success of his latest film, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. The film has reportedly garnered ₹50 crores at the box office, alongside the ₹100 crores earned by Thamma, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana.
In a recent interview, Harshvardhan addressed the ongoing nepotism debate while discussing the film’s performance against Thamma. He believes that the success of both films indicates a shift in audience sentiment.
Harshvardhan’s Take on Nepotism
Rane expressed, “We’ve been fixated on nepotism for the past 6-7 years. It’s time to move on. Two outsider films performed well together this Diwali, which signifies the audience’s acceptance of diverse talents.”
He further stated, “Let’s refrain from using ‘nepotism’ as an excuse. It’s often a fallback for those hesitant to innovate. If someone mentions it, just smile politely and walk away; people are exhausted by this word.”
Overview of Both Films
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat revolves around a powerful politician entangled with a charismatic superstar, leading to a tumultuous love story. Its box office success illustrates the potential for non-nepotistic films to thrive.
In contrast, Thamma is a supernatural romantic thriller-comedy, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana as a journalist facing supernatural challenges alongside Rashmika Mandanna. The movie’s ₹100 crore earnings affirm its popularity among audiences.
How do you perceive the ongoing discussions on nepotism in Bollywood? Are you excited about the wave of outsider films gaining recognition?
