Inside Kantara Chapter 1: The Truth About Its Early OTT Release
Rishab Shetty’s *Kantara Chapter 1* is set for an OTT release on Prime Video on October 31. The producers have shed light on this decision.
Rishab Shetty’s *Kantara Chapter 1*, which hit theaters on October 2, has taken the box office by storm. Despite its ongoing success in cinemas, the film’s rapid transition to digital has raised eyebrows among fans. In a recent interview, Chaluve Gowda from Hombale Films addressed the reasoning behind this quick OTT release.
Chaluve Gowda Discusses the Early OTT Release of Kantara Chapter 1
Gowda explained that the film’s early release on digital platforms was due to a previously established agreement made three years ago. He clarified, “Currently, only the South language versions—Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam—will be available on OTT. The Hindi version will follow after an eight-week gap. This arrangement was put in place well before current practices.”
Additionally, he noted that the filmmaking industry has seen a shift in recent years. “Most South films now have a four-week window for OTT releases. The timeline is determined on an individual basis for each film. Before the pandemic, there was an eight-week standard,” he mentioned.
Despite the film’s early digital launch, the producer remains optimistic about its box office success, projecting only a 10-15% drop in figures. *Kantara Chapter 1* is set to premiere on Prime Video this October 31, with the streaming entity promoting it as, “Get ready to witness the LEGENDary adventure of BERME 🔥 #KantaraALegendChapter1OnPrime.”
About Kantara Chapter 1

Upon its release, *Kantara Chapter 1* was widely praised for its special effects, acting, and direction, quickly becoming one of the highest-grossing films of the year, amassing approximately ₹816.85 crore worldwide, trailing only behind *Chhaava*.
