New Documentary Explores AC/DC's Legendary Influence in Rock Music

AC/DC’s influence continues to resonate, and this weekend, Channel 7 is honoring the band’s legendary status with a new documentary featuring iconic personalities, including Dave Grohl, Slash, and Amy Taylor from Amyl and the Sniffers.

Airing on November 2nd on Seven and 7plus, AC/DC: The World’s Greatest Rock Band will showcase fresh interviews that delve into how a band of outsiders ascended to become rock royalty.

Notable figures in the documentary include Foo Fighters’ founder Dave Grohl, who will share his thoughts on America’s love for AC/DC, and Slash of Guns N’ Roses. Also featured are You Am I’s Tim Rogers, who referred to AC/DC as “elemental,” Amy Taylor of Amyl and the Sniffers, and Wolfmother’s Andrew Stockdale.

The film will incorporate perspectives from the esteemed Molly Meldrum, die-hard AC/DC fan Craig Burgess, author Murray Engleheart, promoter Christo Van Egmond, and radio host Brendan “Jonesy” Jones.

AC/DC recently made waves with their latest studio album, Power Up (2020), marking their sixth number-one album on the ARIA Albums Chart and setting new records in the process.

The documentary will also highlight the ‘Power Up’ tour, which features Amyl and the Sniffers as special guests along with emerging local acts like The Casanovas, Large Mirage, Oscar The Wild, Southern River Band, and Headsend.

This tour kicked off in Europe last year, achieving two million ticket sales over 24 shows. They then completed 10 sold-out performances in North America before embarking on another segment of 15 pan-European shows in June.

The upcoming Australian leg includes performances in Sydney, Adelaide, and Perth, culminating in Brisbane on December 14th (full dates below). Produced by TEG Van Egmond, this tour marks AC/DC’s first return since their 2015 ‘Rock or Bust’ tour.
