At 40, Jasmine understands the critical view of the Punjabi music industry regarding its representation of women. To her, real empowerment lies in a woman’s ability to maintain control. “A woman can indeed be sexy and powerful as long as she directs her own narrative. Empowerment is about self-expression, not objectification,” she explains. Her latest work, an item song in Thamma, showcases choice and authentic expression at its core.

The Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

In her collaboration for Dhurandhar, Jasmine elegantly melds classical Punjabi sounds with modern influences, showcasing the versatility of female artists. “The director wanted to honor traditions while introducing a fresh perspective. I mixed Hindi and Punjabi lyrics to get just the right feel,” she shares. Her partnership with Hanumankind has been a delightful surprise, resulting in what she describes as an “epic sound” beloved by many.

Embracing Change

Jasmine sees this time as a significant transformation in her career. Having penned over 130 songs and released four albums, she reflects on her past tendencies to overanalyze. “I’ve shifted my focus from overthinking to taking action. Now, I let my instincts guide me, explore creative avenues, and dance more,” she reveals.
