Tame Impala Dazzles with ‘My Old Ways’ and ‘Dracula’ on A24’s ‘Sound Check’ Series
## Tame Impala’s Live Performance at A24’s “Sound Check”
Tame Impala recently performed three tracks from their latest album, *Deadbeat*, during A24’s live music series, “Sound Check.” This captivating set took place at New York’s Cherry Lane Theatre and was directed by Sean Durkin, known for his work on *The Iron Claw.* The songs featured included “My Old Ways,” “Dracula,” and “Loser.”
The band, led by Kevin Parker, created an immersive experience on stage, surrounded by darkness that highlighted their unique psychedelic sound. The low lighting added a moody ambiance, keeping the focus on the music and allowing the audience to fully engage with the performance.
## About *Deadbeat*
*Deadbeat* marks Tame Impala’s fifth studio album and has drawn considerable anticipation since its release last week. Just prior to this performance, Parker and the band treated fans to their first all-acoustic session at NPR’s Tiny Desk. Utilizing six acoustic guitars, including one for percussion, they performed four songs in a 20-minute set, starting with “Borderline” from *The Slow Rush* before seamlessly transitioning into two tracks from *Deadbeat*.
Parker has characterized this album as drawing inspiration from Western Australia’s rave culture, describing it as “kind of a future primitive rave act.” The release highlights their innovative sound, which continues to evolve while staying rooted in its origins.
## Tour Plans
Tame Impala is set to embark on a U.S. tour starting later this month in support of *Deadbeat*. The tour kicks off on October 27, with the band performing multiple nights at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, and will wrap up on November 17 after a series of shows at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum.
