Bobby Deol Shares His Struggles in Seeking Roles During Tough Times
Bobby Deol reflects on challenging times in his career
Actor Bobby Deol has recently experienced a revival in his career. Following his success in the web series *Aashram*, he made his return to the big screen with *Animal*. His latest project, *The Ba***ds of Bollywood*, marks a significant comeback after a challenging period where he actively sought roles from directors.
Bobby Deol’s quest for roles
During the early 2010s, Bobby faced a drought of film opportunities, leading him to spend considerable time without work. A casual remark from his son prompted him to pursue acting roles more actively. During an appearance on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Bobby candidly shared his experience of visiting offices of directors and producers, explicitly stating, “I am Bobby Deol. Please give me work.” He noted, “There is nothing wrong with that. At least they will remember that Bobby Deol came to meet me.”
Reflecting on the impact of this challenging phase, Bobby mentioned, “I had given up in life once. I went through a phase. But when nothing is in your hands, something makes you realize that you had something which is why you had such a great start. A voice tells you that you still have it.”
Bobby Deol’s career trajectory
Making a splash with his 1995 debut in *Barsaat*, Bobby followed it up with hits like *Soldier* and *Badal*. However, a series of unsuccessful films in the late 2000s and 2010s limited his opportunities. His comeback began with Prakash Jha’s *Aashram*, and it gained momentum with his standout role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s hit film *Animal* in 2023.
