Taapsee Pannu Shares Insights on Her Historic Home in Denmark

Taapsee Pannu and Mathias Boe are restoring their vintage 1907 home in Denmark, incorporating vintage furniture and Indian art.

Taapsee Pannu has been spending her time between Mumbai and Denmark with her husband, Danish badminton player Mathias Boe. They are currently working on the interiors of their vintage home. Taapsee shares, “The house was built around 1907. There’s so much history attached to it, and we wanted to restore everything possible.” She mentions inheriting vintage furniture from the previous owners, which they were lucky to keep given the high costs of labor and storage in Denmark.

With help from Mathias’s father, a former architect, the couple is handling their home decor themselves. Taapsee notes, “Mathias’s parents live with us which is quite uncommon for Danish culture. It was a challenge to convince them, but we wanted someone to come home to. It feels like a beautiful home.”

Discussing their interior design choices, Taapsee shares, “While Mathias and I agree on some things, there are areas where we differ. Most of the decisions are made with input from his parents as well.” She adds that learning the Danish language has been necessary for better communication, especially since they bought the house.

Regarding her time divide between the two countries, she explains, “It varies with work commitments. Most shoots are during winter in India but we prefer to spend summers in Denmark.”

Taapsee reveals, “In Denmark, the air and water feel refreshing. I love the DIY lifestyle there, doing everything from cooking to fixing things myself. Meanwhile, in India, I seek the comfort of home-cooked meals.” She expresses a deep love for Indian traditions, stating, “The festive periods are filled with dance and music, which I adore.”
