Shriya Pilgaonkar Reveals Heartwarming Diwali Tradition with Mom

Actor Shriya Pilgaonkar reflects on the festive season around Diwali, highlighting its role as a bridge to upcoming holidays.

When Diwali arrives, Shriya Pilgaonkar prioritizes a cherished family tradition: creating rangoli with her mother, Supriya Pilgaonkar. “I’ve been filming for the past few weeks and just returned to Mumbai, so I’m excited to embrace the festive spirit now. As Maharashtrians, we have unique customs associated with Diwali. My mother and I dedicate time to making rangoli every year; she’s exceptionally talented! We create a new design for each day of Diwali, and our neighbors often join us to make paper candles together,” says the 36-year-old actress, who will soon be appearing alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in Haiwaan.

Shriya emphasizes that the festive atmosphere doesn’t conclude with Diwali. “It’s like the onset of the holiday season, creating a joyful vibe as the year winds down,” she shares.

Reflecting on one of her most memorable Diwali celebrations, Shriya recalls, “A particularly special Diwali for me was when I was filming the British series Beecham House, directed by Gurinder Chadha. We shot in London and then celebrated Diwali in Jaipur with a mix of the British cast and crew alongside our Indian team, making it a unique experience.”
