Family Insights: Gajendra Chauhan on Pankaj Dheer’s Role Beyond Co-Star

The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of actor Pankaj Dheer, who passed away earlier this week. Friends and colleagues are expressing their sorrow over his passing.

Among those grieving is Gajendra Chauhan, who starred alongside Pankaj in the beloved series Mahabharat, where Pankaj played Karn and Gajendra portrayed Yudhishthira.

Despite battling pancreatic cancer, Pankaj’s upbeat spirit remained intact. Gajendra recalls, “He would say, ‘Don’t worry, I will overcome this.’” His sense of humor often surprised many who thought he was a serious person; Gajendra fondly remembers, “His one punchline would outdo a hundred others.”

Gajendra, now 69, feels that Pankaj was more than just a colleague. “He was like family to us,” he emphasizes.

Reflecting on their first encounter, Gajendra shares, “I thought to myself, ‘What a handsome man—he’ll take all our jobs!’ But it felt like we had known each other forever after just a few moments.” This bond they formed extended beyond the screen, marking their relationship as truly special.
