Tzuyu Issues Apology for Victoria’s Secret Show; Nayeon and Jihyo Support

On October 16, Twice made a significant mark in K-pop history by being the first K-pop group to perform at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2025. However, only four out of their nine members—Nayeon, Momo, Jihyo, and Tzuyu—took the stage for this milestone event.

Despite their performance gaining widespread attention and praise for their stunning outfits, it faced criticism from some online users who claimed the set was “off-key.” Tzuyu, in particular, received negative comments regarding her performance in their two hit songs: This Is For and Strategy.

It was later revealed that Tzuyu had caught a cold before the show, which affected her performance as she struggled with “phlegm stuck” in her throat.

Following the show, the 26-year-old took to the fan platform, Bubble, to express her apologies.

In her post, Tzuyu stated, “Once [Twice’s fandom], I’m sorry. Before coming to New York, I warmed up my voice well with my vocal teacher, but after arriving, my throat got worse.” She explained that she could sing during rehearsals, but her condition deteriorated by the main performance.

She pledged to fans, saying she would deliver a much better performance in the future and revealed she would visit a hospital for treatment.

Nayeon and Jihyo stepped up to defend Tzuyu on Bubble. Nayeon, 30, encouraged fans to support Tzuyu during her illness and mentioned that the group contemplated not performing live due to her condition.

She noted, “Tzuyu practiced extensively, and I know that. With only four of us, taking on the additional parts was genuinely stressful for me.” Nayeon added that Tzuyu wanted to perform despite her struggles.

Jihyo joined in, urging fans to “praise our Tzuyu” and empathized with her situation, expressing her own frustration over Tzuyu’s illness.

This incident has also stirred some fans to voice their concerns about JYP Entertainment’s scheduling, as the performance at the fashion show occurred just days after Twice’s Singapore concert, which ended on October 12. Momo even rushed from a fragrance event in Singapore to New York City for the show.

Currently, all nine Twice members are expected to gather for a fan meeting in South Korea on October 18.
