Annual Graduation Showcase at KASK & Conservatorium
KASK & Conservatorium hosted its annual Graduation Fashion and Textile Design showcase in Floralia Hall, Ghent. This event highlighted an exhibition of student creations along with two evening fashion shows on June 2, where final collections took center stage on the runway.
Special Events Leading Up to the Show
Before the main shows, bachelor students participated in a public 48-hour sewing marathon at the ChopinChopin studio, which spectators could observe. Their designs were also showcased in 29 shop windows across Ghent, providing a unique walking route from Dampoort station to Campus Bijloke. Featured master’s students included notable fashion designers, like Elisa Deleersnyder and Kilian P. Goderis, along with textile designers such as Abril Adell Piña and Gabrielle Barbé, who were highlighted on the dedicated Graduation website.
Event Details and Accessibility
The exhibition was open to the public for free, while tickets for the fashion shows were priced at 18 euros for adults and 8 euros for students under 26 and job seekers. Members of the press could request complimentary tickets. The fashion and textile exhibitions were held without reservation on June 20 and June 21, with attendees advised to park at nearby Sint-Pietersplein or Sint-Pietersstation due to the lack of direct parking at Floralia Hall.
Encouraging Creativity and Self-Expression
Coordinator Liesbeth Louwyck emphasized the program’s unique vision, which challenges students to explore their personal and artistic boundaries within the fashion landscape. This approach fosters distinctive design signatures through self-reflection and creativity.
This year’s event successfully combined innovation, craftsmanship, and transparency, inviting the public to witness the creative journey of KASK’s budding designers. It celebrated a promising future for these emerging talents.
