In a recent episode of her chat show “Two Much With Kajol,” actor Kajol commented that actors put in more effort than individuals with conventional 9-to-5 jobs. This remark prompted significant discussion on social media, with many finding it “tone-deaf.” Now, Kajol has issued a clarification, explaining her perspective on why acting is an exceptionally taxing profession.
The Intensity of Acting
In her discussion with The Hollywood Reporter, Kajol highlighted the demanding nature of film sets. “It’s a role that requires complete presence. During shoots, every day can stretch for weeks, necessitating physical fitness and proper nutrition. Any minor changes can drastically affect how an actor looks on screen. This creates immense pressure,” she explained.
Unlike traditional office workers who can take breaks, Kajol emphasized that actors operate under constant observation. “When you’re at a 9-to-5 job, you can take a quick break. For us, there’s no downtime. We’re always under scrutiny, from how we move to how we appear on-screen,” she said. This constant pressure can make the acting profession incredibly challenging.
Kajol’s Recent Projects
This year, Kajol starred in the mythological horror film “Maa” and co-hosted the talk show “Two Much with Kajol and Twinkle” alongside Twinkle Khanna, available on Prime Video. Additionally, she appeared in “Sarzameen,” featuring Ibrahim Ali Khan and Prithiviraj Sukumaran, released on Jiohotstar. Recently, Kajol also celebrated her seventh Filmfare award win, alongside Shah Rukh Khan.
