Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Surpasses ₹650 Cr, Outshines Baahubali

Kantara Chapter 1’s Impressive Box Office Performance

Kantara Chapter 1 continues to amaze as it surpasses ₹650 crore at the global box office. This Kannada period action drama has officially outperformed SS Rajamouli’s iconic film, Baahubali: The Beginning. Despite seeing a dip in earnings, the film is quickly approaching the ₹700 crore milestone.

Kantara Chapter 1’s Box Office Update

On its twelfth day, Kantara Chapter 1 faced a significant drop, earning ₹13.50 crore net in India, down 64% from its impressive ₹39.75 crore on Sunday. Still, it managed to exceed ₹450 crore in domestic earnings, bringing its total to ₹451.90 crore net (₹542 crore gross) across India. The film has also excelled internationally, grossing over $11 million overseas, especially in North America.

The film’s producers, Hombale Films, reported a gross of ₹146 crore from its second weekend, estimating the worldwide collection to be around ₹655 crore after 11 days. Although trade estimates suggest it may fall closer to ₹650 crore for its 12-day total.

Kantara Chapter 1 Surpasses Baahubali

A significant milestone for Kantara Chapter 1 is its position among the top 20 highest-grossing Indian films. As of now, it ranks around 17th, overtaking Salman Khan’s Sultan (₹628 crore) and Baahubali (₹650 crore). Given that it was produced on a smaller budget than both these films, this achievement is remarkable. It’s now the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 2025, slowly catching up to Chhaava (₹808 crore).
