Tim Minchin’s Engaging New Single

Tim Minchin is known for addressing complex themes with honesty, and his latest track is no exception.

"You Grew on Me": A Unique Take on Love

The new single, “You Grew on Me,” is part of the upcoming album, TimMinchinTimeMachine. Slated for release on July 25th through BMG, this collection will feature previously unreleased works from the acclaimed musician, writer, and performer.

This emotionally charged ballad offers a darkly humorous twist on the traditional love song. Minchin cleverly compares falling in love to acquiring a serious illness, suggesting that his partner is akin to the malady he can’t escape. With a delicate melody paired with escalating choral backing, the song is both poignant and amusing.

Insights from Tim Minchin

Minchin shares his thoughts on the track, stating, “I’ve performed this tune in various forms for years, and it has always been one of my faves.” He describes the song’s dynamic shifts—from humorous to heartfelt—and its unique structure spanning different time signatures and key centers, saying, “This version, with its bonkers choral backing vocals and awesome Jak Housden guitar, is deeply satisfying to me.”
