Saif Ali Khan shares his experience post-knife attack

Refusing Medical Assistance

Actor Saif Ali Khan recently discussed the knife attack he experienced at his Mumbai residence earlier this year. In a candid moment, he expressed his decision to avoid using a wheelchair while at the hospital. Rather, he requested a stretcher upon his arrival.

Saif Ali Khan was attacked in January at his Bandra home in Mumbai.

Discharge and Walking Out

During an episode of “Two Much” featuring Kajol and Twinkle Khanna, Saif recounted how the medical staff was initially hesitant to assist him. He stated, “When I entered the hospital, they seemed sleepy in the emergency room. I asked, ‘Can we get a stretcher?’ and they responded with ‘Wheelchair?’ I insisted on a stretcher, emphasizing, ‘I’m Saif Ali Khan. It’s an emergency.'” His plea finally led to the necessary attention.

Akshay Kumar, also a guest on the show, applauded Saif, remarking on his bravery during the ordeal. “Hats off to you for fighting. You’ve been a real hero for your family,” he said.

Walking Out on His Own Terms

When it came time to leave the hospital, Saif chose to walk out instead of riding home in an ambulance. “After my surgery, I wanted to make a statement,” he explained. “With the media’s curiosity, I thought walking out would demonstrate that I was okay.”

A Personal Choice

Saif elaborated on why he refused the wheelchair, stating, “Yes, it was painful to walk, but I could manage. Why cause unnecessary panic for my family or fans? My intention was to show everyone that I was fine.” However, his mother, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, suggested he should have taken a wheelchair to avoid any controversy.
