Amazon Prime Video Edits ‘James Bond’ Posters to Exclude Guns

Amazon Prime Video removes guns from ‘James Bond’ posters

On October 7, Amazon Prime Video found itself in hot water after altering posters of “James Bond,” erasing the iconic guns from various images. This decision followed a wave of criticism from fans who were quick to notice the changes.
Last week, Prime Video UK shared these updated posters, showcasing the famous 007 without his guns. In classic films like “Dr. No” and “Goldeneye,” the Walther PPK was completely edited out, and even Roger Moore’s arms were lengthened in “A View to a Kill,” removing the firearm from the frame.
This sparked a strong backlash online. Many expressed their disapproval, with writer Scott McCrea labeling it as “nothing less than cultural vandalism,” according to sources. Additionally, author John A Douglas shared a post on social media highlighting the edits, suggesting it reflects poorly on Amazon’s management of the beloved franchise.
British actor Rufus Jones humorously commented on the drastic changes in the posters, implying that they now portray a rather peculiar image. Following the surge of complaints, especially around James Bond Day on October 5, Amazon opted to replace the contentious artwork with more traditional stills from the films but refrained from offering any detailed comments on the situation.
