Actor Vishal Jethwa shares his thoughts on being called the ‘next Irrfan Khan’
Vishal Jethwa, a rising star in Bollywood, is garnering attention for his performance in “Homebound.” The film has sparked comparisons to the late, iconic actor Irrfan Khan. In a recent interview, Vishal addressed these comparisons, noting that they left him feeling both flattered and uneasy.
Vishal’s Take on the Comparison
When asked about the most remarkable compliment he received about “Homebound,” Vishal shared, “I received one that I couldn’t accept. It felt good to hear, but it made me uncomfortable. Someone said, ‘Vishal Jethwa, next Irrfan Khan.’ It’s a big thing to say, making me feel scared. I don’t feel right comparing myself to someone as legendary as Irrfan Khan.”
During a special screening in Mumbai, emotions ran high as Vishal teared up while engaging with photographers. His mother was seen comforting him afterward. This moment captured the attention of social media, with many users referring to him as the “next Irrfan Khan.” The late actor, known for his work in both Bollywood and Hollywood, left an indelible mark on cinema.
Vishal’s journey also began on television, earning fame with roles in series like “Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap.” He later made his mark in films with his role in “Mardaani 2.” His latest feature, “Homebound,” has received not only critical acclaim but is also India’s official nomination for the Oscars 2026 in the Best International Feature Film category.
