Explore Telepathic Instruments’ Orchid with Jemaine Clement and Matt Berry

Exciting Developments in the World of Telepathic Instruments
As anticipation builds for the much-awaited third release of Telepathic Instruments’ Orchid, the creators have introduced a nostalgic 90’s-style tutorial on the device. This video features Jemaine Clement providing voiceover work and Matt Berry playing the keys, all filmed at London’s Pony Studios.
A Unique Blend of Instruction and Humor
The ‘How to Orchid’ video serves as both a tutorial and a comedic skit. Clement guides viewers through the device’s various features, while Berry humorously sidesteps and complicates the process, adding an entertaining dynamic to the learning experience.
This tutorial efficiently showcases the compact nature of the Orchid, highlighting its versatility for users ranging from novices to experienced songwriters.
Orchid’s Growing Reputation
With two successful releases and over 4,000 units sold, the Orchid has made significant waves in the music scene. You can hear its distinctive sound in tracks like Kid Cudi’s “Submarine” from his 2025 album *Free*, along with contributions from artists such as Don Toliver, Janelle Monáe, and Logic.
Innovations and Features
By the time of its third iteration, the Orchid has truly come into its own. Originally conceived by Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, the device now boasts a range of new features. These include pre-programmed beats developed by Parker, as well as enhanced controls for sound management, such as a dedicated cutoff frequency and quantization for perfect timing.
Furthermore, the original 60 sounds crafted for the Orchid are now available in plugin form, called Pitsil. This addition allows users access to an expanded sound library and two-way synchronization capabilities for more efficient music creation. The Pitsil sound editor will retail separately for $129 USD or bundled with the Orchid for $699 USD.
