Inspiration Behind ‘Tu Meri Poori Kahani’

Debutant director Suhrita Das has revealed that her feature film, “Tu Meri Poori Kahani,” was inspired by the renowned filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s semi-autobiographical movie “Janam,” released in 1998. This connection to Bhatt’s work has deeply influenced her storytelling approach.

Suhrita Das discusses her film’s inspiration.

Story Overview

Released recently, “Tu Meri Poori Kahani” tells the story of a young star who embarks on a quest for fame, only to realize that true fulfillment comes from love and connection. The film features rising talents like Hirranya Ojha and Arhaan Pateel, along with veteran actors Tigmanshu Dhulia and Juhi Babbar.

Das credited the film “Janam” for shaping the character arc of her lead female role, Anika. “Janam” portrays a young filmmaker grappling with societal stigma, which resonated with her vision for Anika’s journey. She wanted to give her character a personal struggle that could resonate with audiences.

Personal Reflections and Future Projects

Suhrita Das expressed that she was also influenced by Mahesh Bhatt’s book, “A Taste of Life,” as she began her writing journey. She shared, “I did not actually know how to write, but I embraced this opportunity for authenticity in my life and for my children’s sake.”

Now, she is already working on her next project and hopes to feature Pooja Bhatt. Das aims to weave a narrative that explores both a young boy’s love story and the experiences of his mother, making it a deeply emotional piece.

“I’ve always wanted to collaborate with Pooja,” Das mentioned enthusiastically, emphasizing the importance of inspiration in filmmaking.
