Naseeruddin Shah’s Support for Diljit Dosanjh Amid Controversy
What are your thoughts on the ongoing controversy involving Diljit and Naseeruddin?
Actor Naseeruddin Shah recently defended Diljit Dosanjh in light of the ongoing controversy regarding the film Sardaar Ji 3 and its casting of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. Following criticism, he has deleted his supportive post from Facebook.
In his now-deleted message, Naseeruddin expressed his unwavering support for Diljit. He stated, “I STAND FIRMLY WITH DILJIT. The political machinery has been looking for a chance to attack him. They believe they have found it now. Diljit was not responsible for the casting; that was the director’s choice. Sadly, most people don’t know who the director is, while Diljit is recognized worldwide, and he accepted the role with an open mind.”
Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit criticized Naseeruddin’s remarks, labeling them as indicative of his frustration. He stated, “We aren’t surprised by Naseeruddin Shah’s comments regarding Diljit Dosanjh. By referring to us as the ‘Jumla party’ and ‘goons,’ he reveals his agitation and restlessness.”
He further added, “Our nation takes precedence for us. Our response to the controversy surrounding the film Sardaar Ji 3 is justified. We have decided to issue a non-cooperation directive against Diljit, which has already been enacted.”
The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) have called for a ban on Diljit, stemming from tensions following recent events, including the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s subsequent military action.
