## Budjerah Is Back with New Music
Budjerah has returned with his latest single, “Want You Back,” released today under Warner Music Australia. This marks Budjerah’s first release of 2025 and the first single since his previous hit, “Is It Ever Gonna Make Sense,” last year.
### A Nostalgic Sound
“Want You Back” draws inspiration from the music of the ’90s and 2000s, a genre that Budjerah grew up loving. The track is produced by Om’Mas Keith, who has worked with artists like Frank Ocean and John Legend, and written by the duo known as MSquared, comprising Michael Paynter and Michael Delorenzis.
### A Personal Connection
Budjerah shared, “I recorded a demo of this song a few years ago and I couldn’t let it go. I’m so inspired by uptempo music and dance at this point in my life. Dancing always made me happy during the tough times, especially when I had to take a break from performing.”
He added that the demo was a staple in his dance practice. “I hope this song inspires others just like it did for me and helps them find joy amid challenges.”
### Recent Performances and Future Plans
After his last single, Budjerah kept busy with a national headline tour and a performance at the 2024 ARIA Awards alongside CYRIL and Becca Hatch. Looking forward, he is slated to support Jacob Banks in Brisbane next month and take part in the Bell Beats Music and Arts Festival in Cowra, followed by a performance at the Dream Aloud Festival in Cairns.
Budjerah was also featured in our “Future of Music” series last year, which highlighted 25 of the most promising and innovative artists from Australia and Aotearoa.
