The Return of ASTRO’s MJ and JinJin

ASTRO continues to make waves in the music industry since their debut in 2016. With nearly a decade of experience, two of the group’s longstanding members, MJ and JinJin, have teamed up to create a new duo under the name ZOONIZINI. Their first mini album, DICE, was released on August 13, 2025, marking an exciting chapter in their careers.

A New Journey Together

This marks JinJin’s second time leading a unit, having previously collaborated with former member Rocky. Now alongside MJ, they’re ready to showcase their skills and chemistry, promising an exciting musical experience for fans. In a recent chat, they shared insights into their new venture and what it means for their future.

A Strong Foundation

JinJin: “I really lean on MJ. Our discussions prompted this project, which we’ve been contemplating since last year. Now, with the album released, it feels like the perfect fit for us.”

MJ: “Collaborating with JinJin allows us to express new sides of ourselves. We carefully constructed the concept to enhance each other’s strengths, offering something fresh compared to our time in ASTRO.”

Their single, "New World," draws inspiration from the film Jumanji, alongside references to the animated series Tom and Jerry. JinJin elaborates on their creative approach, aiming to deliver authenticity through their music.

JinJin: “The concept is influenced by these familiar visuals, helping us show our true selves in our performances.”

While they’re not specifically aiming for a Waterbomb appearance, they express a desire to engage with fans at festivals, creating memorable experiences.

MJ: "Our goal is to connect with fans and enjoy ourselves in a festival setting. Expect to see us embracing the fun!"

JinJin: “Though it’s a distance, we’re incredibly thankful for your support. If we ever make it to India, performing for AROHAs would be a dream come true.”
